49th Annual Redondo Beach Pier Kite Festival Presented by Redondo Pier Association and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach
about this event
Every year on the second Sunday of March, the Redondo Beach Pier hosts one of the longest running kite festivals in Southern California (daylight savings time). This is a public event that does not cost anything to attend. People may either bring their own kites or buy one of the various varieties available at the many stores along the Redondo Beach Pier and International Boardwalk. The beach south of the pier along the Esplanade is a great spot to let your kite fly. There will be prizes for the best homemade kite, the youngest kite flyer, and the youngest kite flyer at heart. On the main stage, a live performance by a famous rock band from the ’70s will be followed by Craig’s Hot Dog on a Stick Eating Contest. If the weather cooperates, the event will go forward.
