International Day of Happiness
Every year on March 20, the globe celebrates International Day of Happiness. Its objective is to draw attention to what the United Nations considers to be humanity’s ultimate goals, which are happiness, freedom, and well-being, and which should be the goal of every nation. Because it is simply a commemoration in the United States, businesses and schools stay open.

History of International Day of Happiness
In 2011, Jayme Illien, CEO of Illien Worldwide Public Benefit Corporation, launched a year-long, million-dollar campaign directed at US Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, with the goal of establishing a global day to recognise the value of happiness for people all around the globe.
In 2008, Illien launched a UN proposal to create a global day to raise awareness of the notion that happiness is a fundamental right.
On June 28, 2012, all United Nations member states agreed and ratified Resolution 66/281, drafted by Illien, formally establishing International Day of Happiness as a day to be honoured by governments worldwide.
On March 20, 2013, the inaugural International Day Happiness was observed.
