Jollof rice is a one-pot rice meal traditional to several West African countries. Some consider it to be the forerunner to the cajun cuisine jambalaya.
The Jollof Festival is a one-day celebration of the different varieties of this cuisine that are distinctive to the several West African nations where it is a staple.
The Jollof Festival experience emphasises on the pride that West Africans have in their traditional foods.
Participants not only get to taste these meals, but they can also participate in the festival by voting to select the winner of the “Jollof Wars,” a head-to-head fight pitting one representative from each nation against each other for the title of Best Jollof Rice.
Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Senegal are among those taking part.
