The Los Angeles Times Food Bowl, sponsored by City National Bank, is thrilled to honour Park’s BBQ and chef Jenee Kim as the winners of the Los Angeles Times 2023 Gold Award.

Korean barbecue has become a staple of the Los Angeles culinary scene thanks in large part to Park’s BBQ, which has been serving up the dish since it first opened in 2003. Park’s was recently rated one of the 101 Best Restaurants in Los Angeles by Times food critic Bill Addison. He said that because of the restaurant’s friendly environment, “a meal goes by in an exhilarating blur of fellowship and meat.”

This year’s Gold Award winner, Park’s BBQ, was chosen by the L.A. Times Food editorial staff and best represents Los Angeles food and culinary excellence. Join us at the restaurant for a ceremony and supper honouring the illustrious Jonathan Gold Award, which he established and named in his honour.

The event will include a family-style Korean BBQ supper showcasing Park’s most well-known dishes, as well as a limited edition, specially selected menu of passed appetisers and beverages served by L.A. Times Food general manager Laurie Ochoa and Park’s chef/owner Jenee Kim. meal tickets include a multi-course meal, dessert, and your choice of beer or soju in addition to a variety of excellent appetisers created especially for this occasion.

A REGARDING THE GOLD AWARD

Legendary Times food critic Jonathan Gold created the L.A. Times Gold Award in 2017. The Gold Award was established with the intention of recognising culinary excellence and broadening what Southern California food may be, according to Gold at the time. The award acknowledges intellect, intelligence, and sensitivity to the environment, culture, and aesthetics.
