Don’t let Massi know! Join us for an amazing, vintage Bhangra and Bollywood brunch in her posh surroundings of Amazing Grace in London! Massi’s Yard Brunch, a brunch that honours British South Asian music and culture and features Bhangra, Desi Beats and Bollywood music from the 1990s and 2000s, is proudly presented by multi-award winner Shaanti. Come and dance the day away as we relive the heyday of Bollywood, Bhangra, and more!

Come celebrate 20 incredible years of music and culture, which gave us classics like Goodness Gracious Me and Bend It Like Beckham. Bhangra bands including Alaap, Apna Sangeet, and Heera gained popularity in the 1990s and 2000s, as did Panjabi MC, Jay-Z’s smash song “Beware of the Boys,” Malkit Singh, and Stereo Nation. When many of the greatest stars in hip-hop and bhangra were collaborating in perfect harmony, British South Asian culture ruled the scene at the time. While homegrown talents like RDB, Dr Zeus, B21, Tigerstyle, Juttla, Surinder Rattan, Metz, and Trix were recording some of the most memorable songs of the period, legends like Truth Hurts, Raki, Erick Sermon, Redman, and Kanye West were embracing Bollywood. The UK charts were also dominated by British Asian acts including The Rishi Rich Project with Jay Sean and Juggy D, Cornershop, Apache Indian, and Bally Sagoo. The UK Singles Chart’s top place for Jas Mann’s “Spaceman,” a Wolverhampton native, was the cherry on top. It was undoubtedly a year of cultural fusion, and it will long be remembered.

Additionally, it was the year of The Asian Underground, with artists like Talvin Singh, Joi, Nitin Sawhney, State of Bengal, M.I.A, UK Apache, Basmarsh, and Shri breaking barriers as they entered the mainstream and signed deals with major record companies. This was the era when Gwen Stefani worn a bindi, Madonna wore henna, and East is East gave us a new catchphrase: “You bloody bastar£%!!!!” It was the year when East and West first met, permanently altering the course of music.

At Massi’s Yard Brunch, be ready to take off into the past! With a blend of traditional Bollywood, Bhangra, Desi Beats, RNB, and Hip Hop music, this special event will transport you to the 1990s and the early 2000s. After an hour of free Desi Rum Punch, dance to five hours of the finest British Asian music from the era. Price: £15.50 + BF, £18 + BF (please note that the Booking Fee goes directly to the ticket agency; T&Cs apply). There are more people at the entrance. All sales of tickets, add-ons, and goods are final and non-refundable once made.

-Ticket is valid just for admission.

-Entry closes at 4 p.m.

– Please notice that free desi rum punch is only provided during the first hour and is not included in the price of your ticket. Punch made with pineapple, orange, lime, black rum, and light rum will be fruity. You cannot trade this in for a different beverage. One drink per serving, first come, first served; refills available until 1:00 p.m.

Please be aware that the second level is where Birmingham Bierkeller events are held. There is no wheelchair access or a lift at this location.
