About this Raptor Fest at Rancho San Vicente!

Come to Santa Clara County Parks and the Peninsula Open Space Trust for an unforgettable educational experience: Raptor Fest! The health of our ecosystems relies heavily on raptor populations, and this amazing event will shine a spotlight on some of the most crucial raptor species.

Raptor Fest at Rancho San Vicente!

Free and open to the public, this informative event will offer talks and tours of Bay Area wildlife and conservation organisations. Rancho San Vicente, a recently added section of Calero County Park under POST protection, is quickly gaining popularity as a venue to watch a wide variety of raptors, and will serve as the site of the event.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness birds of prey in their natural habitat and gain insight into why it’s so crucial to protect them. Master Falconer Kenny Elvin of Full Circle Falconry will be among those giving presentations. Several times throughout the day, Kenny Elvin will give a 45-minute talk on falconry. Falconry has a rich history, and Kenny will discuss that, as well as the biology and behaviour of raptors. Depending on the weather and other factors, the presentation may include a demonstration flight. To kick off the falconry demonstration, a representative from Santa Clara County Parks will talk about the department’s work to ensure the safety of raptors across the county’s parks.

The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) will bring some of their rehabilitated raptors to show off, the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley will provide an instructive activity station, and the Los Gatos Birdwatcher will be there to lend a hand.

The presentations will be given with floor seating. As the event will be held in an open field, guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, warm clothing, and sunscreen. Chairs with low backs are welcome, however they must be placed behind the people who have brought blankets.

Due to a lack of parking, attendees should know that a shuttle service will be available. The shuttle service has implemented a mask policy for all passengers. Keep reading for updated COVID regulations that will apply during the rest of the convention. If you require any sort of accommodation, please get in touch with us.
