About Starting a Community Food Co-op.

A food co-op is a local purchasing club where members can stock up on nutritious foods at rock-bottom costs. The co-ops save money by purchasing fresh food and home items in bulk and by receiving many donations of store leftovers. As a result of working together with their neighbors, co-op members may save as much as 40 percent on their monthly food budget.

Members of a community food co-op operate the business, deciding on purchases and other policies as a group. No upper management to answer to!

A food co-op may be started by anybody on any block or estate. At this seminar, attendees will hear about successful co-op initiatives in other areas and get instruction on how to launch a similar venture in their own neighborhood.
