GOING’s Darning Workshop.

About Darning workshop hosted by GOING

Daisy Harvey, from GOING, will be doing a darning session, and you’re cordially invited to attend. In conjunction with HAZE’s group exhibition “Destructive Mollusc” at Staffordshire St Studios, this event has been organized.

Students will learn how to fix and give new life to previously worn or discarded things via an exploration of darning, a procedure used to patch holes in clothing by interweaving yarn. If you have an article of clothing that you would like to have renewed via the darning method (whether to repair a hole in the fabric or to beautify a wine stain), you will be welcome to bring it in.

If you want to practice on scraps of fabric first, you won’t have to risk ruining your favorite sweater or a pair of socks that has seen better days before you commit to testing it out.

The class will take place in the gallery itself, complete with coffee and cookies!

HARMING MOLLUSC

HAZE invited artists to explore the notion of a skin or membrane as both protective and confining for their show Destructive Mollusc.

Poet and philosopher Paul Valery seeks refuge in the mathematical structure of natural forms like crystals, flowers, and shells in his book Sea Shells. However, this exterior may often seem more like a pressure cooker than a safe haven. The protective skin doesn’t necessarily be crushed, but the strain it suffers around it is perceptible, serving as both the intimate cocoon we attempt to keep around our own emotional upheaval and a protection from outer disturbance.

Yes, all IDs will be examined at the gate, no exceptions. If you are under the age of 21, please do not purchase a ticket.

Are children permitted to attend the event?

There are no children. Call the babysitter ahead of time!

Are pets permitted at the event?

Please leave our dogs, cats, horses, and fish at home, as much as we adore them.
