Come to a screening of Star Trek: The Movie with Machine Dazzle.
The cast of the original, short-lived 1960s TV series reunited for the first time in this special effects-heavy feature picture based on the syndicated series, which was created by series creator Gene Rodenberry and released in 1979.
A strange energy cloud is heading straight for Earth, so Captain Kirk, Dr. Spock, and the rest of the crew return to space on a revamped USS Enterprise. Star Trek: The Motion Picture represents the series at its most wonderstruck and cerebral, evoking more of 2001: A Space Odyssey than Star Wars.
Machine Dazzle’s Movie Night with Machine is a series of screenings of five classic cult films that coincide with his solo show, Queer Maximalism x Machine Dazzle.
All of these films, which were released in the late Seventies and early Eighties, pleased the young artist and contributed to his all-encompassing view of popular culture.
Movie Night with Machine events are always a lot of fun and, as one would expect, completely over the top, with things like costume competitions, a specialized step-and-repeat for group shots, freebies, and more.
After each film, there will be a Q&A with the artist and it will be presented by Machine.
